Saw Palmetto contains fatty acids, especially lauric acid, myristic acid, and oleic acid, which inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, a key enzyme in the conversion of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is the more potent form of testosterone and is linked to symptoms such as hair loss, hair growth and acne - all common in women with PCOS*.
